Jadarian Price practiced with Seattle's first-team offense on Wednesday, August 12, his first work since lower-body soreness cost him roughly a week — an hourlong session focused on alignment, communication, and technique, per Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Saturday night he suited up for warmups at the preseason opener against Dallas and then didn't play a snap, which Condotta read as a rookie on the mend rather than a rookie in trouble. That's the week for Seattle's first-round back: back in the building's plans, still without a single live rep as a professional.

The June preview was built on an honest abstention. Seattle spent the 30-second pick on Price after Kenneth Walker left for Kansas City and Zach Charbonnet tore his knee, and we said nobody — beat writers, graders, us — can tell you what a rookie produces before he plays. The bet on him was a bet on an emptied backfield, and the September questions were two: who takes the first offensive series, him or George Holani, and what Charbonnet's designation says about the room.

The week moved both questions a little. The soreness turned out to be exactly the days-not-weeks situation Mike Macdonald described, with no reported setback. Working with the first team the moment he returned is the staff's answer about pecking order, as clear as August gets. And Charbonnet remains on the physically-unable-to-perform list with no movement, per Condotta, while Emanuel Wilson's leg injury thinned the room further. Everything around Price points the role his way. What's still missing is the thing June said mattered: evidence. No full-contact team reps yet, no game usage, nothing to grade. Condotta wrote that Thursday's full practice would be the real gauge, and no report on how that went reached this window's accessed coverage.

Does the June read hold? UNCHANGED — we said only results would tell us what the rookie is, and there are still no results, just a role that keeps clearing itself for him. Next week: whether Price takes his first live carries in the second preseason game, and whether he opens with the first group when he does. We'll check next Sunday.
