Meyers was targeted once and caught it: 28 yards deep left on third and 8 with 11:11 left in a tied fourth quarter, worth 15.7 points of win probability, the largest gain by any Jacksonville play. It was Trevor Lawrence's only third-down completion of the day, in a 20–13 loss to the Broncos.

Tied at 13, 11 11 left in the fourth quarter, third and eight at the Jacksonville 34, no huddle. Trevor Lawrence threw deep left to Jakobi Meyers, 21 yards in the air, and Meyers took it 28 yards to the Denver 38, Talanoa Hufanga on the tackle. +3.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 15.7 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. No Jacksonville play all day moved the win probability more. It was the only third-down pass Lawrence completed in seven throws.
That is the whole line: one target, one catch, 28 yards, one first down. No carry this week. The drive it kept alive went three more plays — an incompletion, a two-yard run, an incompletion on third and eight — and Cam Little's 54-yard field goal went wide left. Denver scored the go-ahead touchdown on the possession that followed.
Where the ball went instead: 12 targets to Parker Washington, eight to Brian Thomas, two each to Brenton Strange and Bhayshul Tuten, and one each to Meyers, Quintin Morris, LeQuint Allen and Ameer Abdullah. 20 of 29 throws to two receivers. Meyers's one came after halftime, when Jacksonville had 12 pass plays.
Back in June the preview made no call on Meyers: five straight seasons in a narrow scoring band, a friendly floor, and a crowded Jacksonville room capping it. Week 1 was two targets, both caught, 40 yards and a touchdown. Sunday was one target. Three targets in two games, three catches, 68 yards, every one of them a first down or a score. The throws have been well chosen, and there have been three of them. A receiver who averaged nearly seven targets a game last season is at one and a half, and the room is less crowded than concentrated — on two other people. Two games is early to call that a role. Jacksonville is home to the Patriots on Sunday the 20-seventh.
