24 all against the Steelers, 55 seconds left, second and three at midfield. Deshaun Watson threw short middle to Jerry Jeudy, who got 10 yards to the Pittsburgh 40 and stepped out of bounds to stop the clock. +6.6 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the most of any Browns snap on the drive before the kick. Four snaps later Andre Szmyt made the 56-yard field goal that won it. The drive had started with Jeudy too: first and 10 at the Cleveland 26 with a minute 36 left, deep middle, 17 yards.
The line: three targets, three catches, 36 yards, three first downs. The other was nine yards on second and seven at midfield in the third quarter, up 11.
Back in June the preview split Jeudy down the middle: the target volume, about six a game, was the part that tends to carry. The first three weeks brought five targets, none in Week 3. Thursday brought three, every one caught, and two on the drive that decided the game. Four games: eight targets, five catches, 62 yards. The volume the preview trusted is still about a third of what it was built on.
