Coleman, who had no touch from scrimmage in Week 1, carried 10 times for 39 yards and scored the go-ahead 3-yard touchdown with 7:24 left, then took six carries for 33 yards on the drive that ran out the clock. He added three catches for 19 yards with RJ Harvey inactive and J.K. Dobbins without a fourth-quarter carry, in a 20–13 win over the Jaguars.

Tied at 13, seven 24 left in the fourth quarter, first and goal at the Jacksonville three, one snap after a pass-interference flag on Travis Hunter. Jonah Coleman went over right tackle for three yards and the touchdown. +1.0 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 8.4 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. 19 to 13, 20 after the kick, and that was the final.
The line: 10 carries, 39 yards, one touchdown, three first downs, four of the 10 successful, −0.2 expected points on the carries; three targets, three catches, 19 yards, +0.3 on the targets. The carries went nothing, one, two, the three-yard score, six, one, three, 12, −1, 12. Two before halftime for one yard, eight in the fourth quarter for 38. The last six were one drive. Denver took over at its own 20 with four 41 left, up seven, and Coleman carried for six and one; after Jaylen Waddle's 29-yard catch on third down he carried for three, for 12 on second and seven, for −1, and for 12 more on second and 11 to the Jacksonville 18, with Jacksonville spending its last two timeouts in between. Three kneels ended it. The catches were seven on second and 19, eight, and four, two of them in the first quarter.
The split: J.K. Dobbins 10 designed runs, Coleman 10, Bo Nix two, and one each for Nate Adkins, Pat Bryant and Tyler Badie. Dobbins's came first — eight before halftime and his last with a minute 33 left in the third. In the fourth quarter Denver's running backs carried nine times and Coleman had eight of them. RJ Harvey was inactive, on the list the Broncos' team site published before the game, and NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk reported during the game that Dobbins was questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
This week contradicts the first one. Back in June the preview called Coleman praise now, evidence later — a fourth-round rookie behind two paid backs. Week 1 was one kickoff return and nothing from scrimmage. Sunday was 13 touches, the touchdown that decided the game and the drive that closed it. The evidence arrived, with an asterisk the size of the depth chart: one back ahead of him did not dress and the other did not carry in the fourth quarter. What the role is when both are available is a question Sunday could not answer. Denver is home to the Rams on Sunday night the 20-seventh.
