Addison caught 2 of 5 targets for 21 yards, his first catches of the season, and the second was a 15-yard conversion on third and five from the Minnesota 17 with 4:51 left that kept the drive to the last field goal alive. Five targets were second on the Vikings to Justin Jefferson's six, in a 9–3 win over the Bears.

Six to three, Vikings, four 51 left in the fourth quarter, third and five at the Minnesota 17. Carson Wentz threw short middle to Jordan Addison, 15 yards to the 32. +2.0 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — the most of any Vikings pass or run play all day, and 5.6 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. The drive kept going from there, ran Chicago out of timeouts, and ended in Will Reichard's 39-yard field goal with a minute 12 left. Nine to three, and that was the final.
The line: five targets, two catches, 21 yards, one first down, −0.6 expected points on his targets, 43 air yards. In order: six yards short left on second and 10 at the Chicago 34 with 13 29 left in the first quarter, the fourth snap of the game and his first catch of the season; incomplete short right on first and 10 at the Chicago 21, later on that same drive; incomplete deep left on third and three at the Minnesota 42 with 16 seconds left in the first quarter, tied at three, −1.6, and a punt; incomplete short middle on second and seven with two 35 left in the third; and the 15. Three targets before halftime, two after. Two third-down targets, one converted.
Five targets were second on the team, behind six to Justin Jefferson and ahead of four to T.J. Hockenson. Wentz threw 20 passes, so that is a quarter of them. Minnesota called 27 designed runs against 23 pass plays and gained a hundred 43 yards through the air, so a quarter of the throws was still 21 yards.
Back in June the preview called Addison a watchlist: the 40-fourth receiver off the board, two productive seasons next to Jefferson before a down year it laid on a suspension and the quarterback play, with the quarterback as the whole swing and his target share next to Jefferson as the September watch. Week 1 was two targets, both on third down, both incomplete, and the episode said the first number to look for was a target that was not on third down. It came on the fourth snap of this game, and three of his five were on first or second down. The quarterback was Wentz again, with Kyler Murray ruled out, per CBS Sports. So the share moved, from two targets to five, and the production moved from nothing to 21 yards. Two games from a backup quarterback do not answer the question the preview asked. Minnesota is at the Buccaneers on Sunday the 20-seventh.
