Addison caught 5 of 9 targets for 90 yards and a touchdown, a 41-yarder deep left on third and eight with 4:17 left in the half that broke a 10–10 tie; he had 71 of the 73 yards on that drive. Nine targets led the Vikings after Justin Jefferson left in the first quarter, and a third-quarter interception came on a throw intended for him, in a 23–16 win over the Buccaneers.

10 all, four 17 left in the second quarter, third and eight at the Tampa Bay 41. Kyler Murray threw deep left to Jordan Addison, 39 yards in the air, and Addison caught it for a 41-yard touchdown. +5.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 18.2 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the largest win-probability swing on any pass or run by either team all day. Three snaps earlier, on first and 10 at the Minnesota 27, he had caught a 30-yarder deep left and gone out of bounds at the Tampa Bay 43; the Buccaneers challenged the catch and the ruling stood. The drive covered 73 yards and 71 of them were his. The extra point made it 17 to 10, and Minnesota led from there to the end.
The line: nine targets, five catches, 90 yards, one touchdown, three first downs, +0.5 expected points on the targets, a hundred 51 air yards. The catches: four on second and nine late in the first quarter; the 30; the 41; 10 on second and nine at the Minnesota 46 with eight 24 left in the fourth, up 17 to 16, a first down worth 12.9 points of win probability on the drive that ended in Will Reichard's 56-yard field goal; and five on third and 22 later on that drive, with an illegal-block penalty on Minnesota during the play that made it third and 27. The misses: deep middle on third and four with a minute 10 left in the half; short middle on third and 11 at the Minnesota 31 with eight 41 left in the third, up 17 to 10, intercepted at the 22, and Tampa Bay kicked a field goal from there; short right on third and seven late in the third; and deep left on second and 10 early in the fourth. Four targets before halftime, five after. Five third-down targets, two caught, one converted.
Nine targets led the Vikings, ahead of six to Aaron Jones and four to T.J. Hockenson, 36 percent of the 25 Minnesota throws with a receiver. Justin Jefferson hurt his ankle in the first quarter and did not return, per MPR News; from Jefferson's last catch on, Addison had nine of the 23 throws with a receiver. His 90 receiving yards were the most in the game, ahead of Emeka Egbuka's 62.
Back in June the preview called Addison a watchlist: two productive seasons next to Jefferson before a down year it put on a suspension and the quarterback play, with the quarterback as the whole swing and his target share next to Jefferson as the September watch. Week 1 was two targets, both on third down, both incomplete. Week 2 was five targets, two catches and 21 yards, all from Carson Wentz. Sunday was Kyler Murray's first full game as a Viking, and it brought nine targets, 90 yards and Addison's first touchdown of the season. The share jumped because Jefferson left, which is a different thing from Addison taking it. Three games: 16 targets, seven catches, a hundred 11 yards. Minnesota is home to the Dolphins on Sunday the fourth.
