Juwan Johnson made it through cut day on the roster. The roster tracker at Audacy lists him among four tight ends kept on the initial 53, per Jeff Nowak — that tracker is the source naming him, and it's corroborated the quiet way: the team's own Sunday announcement does not mention him at all, on any reserve list or in the transactions, which at cutdown is what staying looks like. TE Cody Hardy was among the 14 players waived, per the team's announcement.
One piece of the room is reported two ways, so here are both. Nowak's tracker lists Moliki Matavao — the young tight end who left the Rams game with a lower-leg injury, per Ross Jackson at Louisiana Sports — as on season-ending injured reserve. The team's August thirtieth announcement, which names five players on regular injured reserve, does not include him. Until those agree, we're not calling it either way.
What didn't change is the number that has defined Johnson's August: zero. He sat the finale against Dallas with the rest of the starters, per the team's recap, which credits him with nothing — so last week's watch line, whether he'd play with Tyler Shough and where the first reads would go, gets a flat answer: he didn't, and there's no first-read evidence to report. That question is now guaranteed to wait for a September target log, and the conditions around it look more favorable than they did in June, not less.
