Sadiq caught 7 of 8 targets for 105 yards, four first downs and a 24-yard touchdown on second and twelve in the second quarter, the first touchdown catch of his career, plus a 43-yarder to the Detroit 13 that set up another score. It was his first 100-yard game, second in the game only to Garrett Wilson's 107, in a 31–24 loss to the Lions.

Three to nothing, Lions, five 40 left in the second quarter, second and 12 at the Detroit 24. Geno Smith threw deep right to Kenyon Sadiq for 24 yards and the touchdown, and after the kick the Jets led seven to three. +3.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 11.2 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. It was the first touchdown catch of his career; his first touchdown, in Week 1, came on a run.
The line: eight targets, seven catches, a hundred five yards, one touchdown, four first downs, +6.5 expected points on the targets. 78 yards in the air on his targets, 46 after the catch on the catches. The catches went five, 24, eight, three, 43, 15 seven. The 43 came with the Jets down 14 13 59 left, first and 10 from the Jets 44, deep left to the Detroit 13, and the drive ended with Jeremy Ruckert's four-yard touchdown. The 15 and the seven came on the last drive, the seven pushed out at the Detroit 47 with one 54 left. The one incompletion was deep left in the first quarter. Four targets in each half. No third-down targets.
Eight targets were 22 percent of the Jets' 36 throws with a receiver, second to Garrett Wilson's 13, and a hundred five yards were second in the game to Wilson's hundred seven. The Jets were without tight end Mason Taylor and receiver Adonai Mitchell, both inactive, per Sports Illustrated's Jets coverage. It is the first hundred-yard game of his career, in his third game.
Back in June the preview on Sadiq was a refusal to project: the sixteenth pick in the draft, a sports-hernia procedure in June, and a tight end room that already had Mason Taylor and Ruckert, so the question was whether he would get a real share at all. Week 1 was three catches on three targets for 21 yards and a three-yard touchdown run. Week 2 was three targets, two catches, 17 yards. This week was eight targets and a hundred five yards, with Taylor out. Three games: 14 targets, 12 catches, a hundred 43 yards, one touchdown catch and one touchdown run. One big week with two pass catchers missing is not yet a role, and three games settle little. The Jets are at the Bears on Sunday the fourth.
