30 to 27, Chiefs, a minute 16 left, first and 10 at the Las Vegas one, no timeouts. Kirk Cousins hit Tre Tucker for eight, threw incomplete, lost four on a false start, and found Michael Mayer for 11 on third and six. A spike, two incompletions — one of them a completion to Cody White reversed on replay — and it was fourth and 10 at the 16 with 37 seconds left. He threw short right to Ashton Jeanty, who ran out at the 28: 12 yards and 11 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. An incompletion, then 23 yards deep middle to Tucker, to the Kansas City 49. Spike. Second and 10, 10 seconds left, short left for Mayer, intercepted by Nwankpa at the 36. −0.7 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −12 points of win probability.
The line: 31 of 52, three of those attempts spikes, for 365 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, no sacks, and +8.7 expected points on 49 pass plays. The touchdowns: 27 yards deep left to Ian Thomas on first and 10 on the opening Raiders drive, and 20 yards deep right to Brock Bowers with a minute 54 left, followed by a two-point throw to White. 12 of 17 for a hundred 46 before halftime, 19 of 32 for 219 after, spikes left out. Eight throws traveled 20 or more yards in the air and four were caught. On third down he threw 13 times and moved the chains five; the biggest was 21 yards to Bowers on third and 11 early in the fourth, 20.6 points of win probability, the Raiders' largest gain of the game. The costliest was fourth and two at the Kansas City 18 in the third quarter, after a Kansas City penalty erased a made field goal: short left for Jeanty, incomplete, −3.6 expected points.
Bowers had 11 of the 48 throws with a receiver, Mayer 10, Tucker and Jeanty eight each, White four. 49 pass plays against 26 rush plays.
Back in June the preview made no call on Cousins, on a one-year bridge deal in front of the first overall pick, Fernando Mendoza. Four games: 93 of a hundred 44, 1026 yards, 11 touchdowns, four interceptions. Sunday's 52 attempts and 365 yards were his most of the season. Mendoza does not appear in the play-by-play.
