Nothing to nothing against the Jets, 27 seconds left in the first quarter, fourth and one at the New York one. Chicago's opening drive had ended on this same yard line, two D'Andre Swift touchdowns taken away by replay and the fourth-down try stopped. This time Kyle Monangai had gone three yards to the one on second down and been stopped for no gain on third. On fourth he went behind the right guard and scored. +2.2 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 6.9 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Chicago led the rest of the way.
The line: 30 carries, a hundred 46 yards, two touchdowns, eight rushing first downs, 14 of the 30 successful, +3.4 expected points on the carries; one catch for four. The long ones: 19 yards from the Chicago 29 in the second quarter, and 26 on second and 10 from the Jets 44 early in the fourth, up 20 to six. The second touchdown came from the five with two 29 left in the third, for 20 to six, after the Jets had closed to 13 to six. Two misses on third and one from the one: no gain in the first quarter, the snap before his first score, and a loss of two early in the fourth, after which Chicago kicked a field goal. 13 carries in the fourth quarter for 70 yards, eight of them on the 18-play drive that ran out the last nine minutes and 16 seconds.
The split: Monangai 30 of Chicago's 51 rush plays, Swift 15, Roschon Johnson four. Swift's last carry was a fumble with eight 52 left in the third; of the 23 Bears runs after it, Monangai had 18.
Back in June the preview made no call on Monangai: the change of pace behind Swift, with growth resting on whether his share of the carries grew. Weeks 1 to 3 were 10 carries each. This week was 30, to Swift's 15. Four games: 60 carries, 324 yards, three touchdowns, five catches for 39. One game is one game; it is also the first time the share the preview was watching moved at all.
