Luther Burden III scored Chicago's first touchdown against the Seahawks: 9 targets, 7 catches, 56 yards, 36 of them after the catch, and +2.8 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
Most of it came on the opening drive. Third and 4 at the Seattle 45, he caught a short pass to the left for 5 yards and the first down: +1.3 EPA and 7.0 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. Five snaps later his 9-yard catch on second and 7 put Chicago at the 4, +1.3 EPA, and two snaps after that he caught a 1-yard throw to the right for the touchdown on second and 1. In the second quarter his 23-yard catch deep over the middle from the Chicago 28 started a drive that ended in a 44-yard field goal, +1.5 EPA. The miss that cost came on the first drive of the third: third and 2 at the Chicago 25, incomplete over the middle, -1.8 EPA, and Chicago punted.
Per target it matched his season. Through Week 7 he had 35 catches on 47 targets for 491 yards, two touchdowns and +14.4 EPA, +0.31 a target; here it was also +0.31.
