24 to 19, Cardinals, five 47 left in the third quarter, third and 20 at the Giants 42 after a sack and an incompletion. Jameis Winston threw deep left to Malachi Fields, 37 yards in the air, and he was pushed out at the Arizona 18 after 40. +4.3 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 19.6 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the biggest gain on any Giants snap of the day. The drive ended in Theo Johnson's touchdown and a two-point run, and New York led for good, 27 to 24.

His other catch was a touchdown. 14 to six, Cardinals, four 36 left in the second quarter, third and four at the Arizona 12: short right to Fields for 12 yards and the score, 13.9 points of win probability. The two-point try failed.

The line: three targets, two catches, 52 yards, one touchdown, two first downs, +4.7 expected points on the targets, 63 air yards. The third target went the other way: first and 10 at the Arizona 40 with 32 seconds left in the half, short middle, intercepted by Burke at the 25, and Arizona kicked a 60-yard field goal. He also had a false start at the Arizona 13 on the go-ahead drive.

Three targets were third on the team, behind Isaiah Likely's 12 and Malik Nabers's seven.

Back in June the preview made no call on Fields and said to watch whether he was running with the first unit. Through three games he had 12 targets, six catches and 74 yards, with no deep catch. Sunday he had his first touchdown and his longest catch of the season. Four games: 15 targets, eight catches, a hundred 26 yards, one touchdown. The volume is still small.
