Malik Nabers ran his first full-speed team periods since tearing his ACL on Monday — seven-on-seven and 11-on-11 work, on a managed rep count, in a red non-contact jersey — per Josh Alper at Pro Football Talk. The receiver's own words carried the weight of 10 months: "My soul's been dead for so long just being away from the game. Getting out there and having my teammates behind me kinda felt that [soul come back to life]." Eligibility became participation on the exact day the calendar allowed, which is how this rehab has gone at every checkpoint.

What the week did not produce is a commitment. Nabers sat Saturday's 26 to three win in Miami with the rest of the starters, per Michael Haney and Patricia Traina at Giants On SI, the team remains noncommittal about the September thirteenth opener against Dallas, per John Flanigan at SNY, and John Harbaugh's Friday framing, carried by Pro Football Network, was hope stated as hope: "I think we've just got to go with the process... you can hope. Sure, I hope he's out there. I'm praying for it, certainly, but we'll see." The honest reading: the steps keep arriving on schedule, and the team keeps declining to name the date the steps point at.

Back in June our preview made availability the first, second and third conversation on Nabers, with Week 1 the optimistic end of a real range rather than a lock — and every scheduled box since has been checked on time, this week's biggest one included. The remaining unknowns are the ones only contact and burst can answer, and a red jersey is designed to defer both.

Watch next, and it is the last camp checkpoint that matters: whether Nabers sheds the red jersey for contact team periods this week, and whether he practices fully in the run-up to cutdown weekend. We'll check after cut day.
