30 to 13, Seahawks, seven 52 left in the fourth quarter, third and two at the Seattle two. Omarion Hampton went over left guard for the touchdown. +2.0 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. It was his fourth carry of the drive: six yards on third and three at the Seattle 23, 11 to the six, pushed out of bounds, and one to the five. The extra point made it 30 to 20.
The line: nine carries, 45 yards, one touchdown, four first downs, five of the nine successful, +3.4 expected points on the carries; two targets, two catches, eight yards. The longest was 15 over right guard on second and one in the first quarter, to the Seattle 43, worth 4.3 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it; that drive ended in a punt. One of his catches, three yards on third and 24 in the fourth quarter, came with a roughing-the-passer penalty on Seattle that kept the touchdown drive alive. Four carries before halftime, five after.
The split: the Chargers ran 27 designed runs, 10 to Keaton Mitchell, nine to Hampton, five to Kimani Vidal, and one each to Quentin Johnston, Oronde Gadsden and Justin Herbert.
Back in June the preview called Hampton a watchlist, with 20 touches a game as the confirming number and availability the other thing to watch. Week 2 is still the one game over 20. Sunday was 11 touches, the fewest of his four games, and a second straight game with a clean ball after lost fumbles in each of the first two. Four games: 59 carries, 238 yards, three touchdowns, two lost fumbles.
