Davis had no official touches. His one appearance in the play-by-play, a pass to him for no gain on second and 16 with 10:00 left in the fourth, came back on a Buffalo holding penalty. James Cook carried 24 times, in a 24–16 win over the Chargers.

13 to 10, Chargers, 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter, second and 16 at the Chargers 30. Josh Allen threw short right to Ray Davis, who was stopped for no gain. The play did not count: Buffalo was flagged for holding, and it became second and 26. That is Davis's whole appearance in the play-by-play. No carry, no target that counted, no return; Buffalo's kickoffs and punts were returned by someone else.
The backfield without him: James Cook carried 24 times for a hundred 54 yards and a touchdown, Josh Allen had six designed runs and two rushing touchdowns, and Dawson Knox took one direct snap. 31 designed runs, and none of them went to Davis.
Back in June the preview's line on Davis was depth-chart access rather than a defined weekly role. Week 1 was one carry and two kickoff returns. Week 2 was one return. Sunday was one play that was erased. Three games say the same thing, and Cook's carries have gone up each week. Buffalo is home to the Patriots on Sunday the fourth.
