Ricky Pearsall's second week on injured reserve produced no reported news — no surgery update, no rehab milestone, nothing in the accessed coverage. That's the expected shape of a season-ending posterior cruciate ligament file in August, and we'll note it in a sentence rather than pretend otherwise.
What this feed said it would track instead is the redistribution of the role he vacated, and that had a loud week. Rookie De'Zhaun Stribling ran his preseason line to 11 catches for a hundred nine yards across two games, including three receptions on Brock Purdy's lone drive against the Chargers, per Brooke Evans at 49ers.com. Deebo Samuel caught a touchdown in Saturday's practice, per David Bonilla at 49ers Webzone, and Mike Evans returned from a bout of tightness to catch a red-zone score from Purdy in the same session. Christian Kirk, the other injured claimant to those targets, still hasn't practiced since July 26. The share Pearsall was defending in June is being divided, mostly between Stribling and the veterans, in real time.
Back in June the preview weighed a season for Pearsall that the surgery has since taken off the table, which leaves this feed tracking the aftermath. What to watch, loosely: any reported rehab timeline as cutdown paperwork settles, and where the target tree lands after Sunday, because that's the depth chart his 20 27 case will eventually be argued against. We'll check after cut day.
