10 to three, Bears, over the Jets, 27 seconds left in the first half, third and five at the Chicago 47. Tyson Bagent threw deep middle to Rome Odunze, 20 yards in the air, and Odunze ran 17 more to the New York 16. +2.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 7.6 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Chicago kicked a field goal on the last snap of the half for 13 to three.
The line: seven targets, six catches, 94 yards, four first downs, +6.7 expected points on the targets. Three third-down targets, all caught, all converted: 21 on third and six on the opening drive, a catch the Jets challenged and lost; five on third and three in the second quarter, on a field-goal drive; and the 37. The 20 came on first and 10 from the Chicago four in the third quarter, after a punt pinned the Bears there.
Seven targets were second on the Bears to Colston Loveland's nine. 94 yards led Chicago's receivers.
Back in June the preview's read on Odunze was a breakout setup, with his target share as the number to watch. His targets have gone three, four, six and seven, up every week, and this was his best game of the four in catches and yards. Four games: 20 targets, 14 catches, 233 yards, no touchdowns. The share is climbing; he has not yet led the team in targets in a game this season.
