Tory Horton missed practice again this week, and this time nobody named the reason. He sat out Monday's session, with Mike Macdonald saying only that Horton is "working through some things," per Cameron Van Til at Seattle Sports — and no Horton entry appeared in the accessed coverage of Friday's joint practice with the Titans in Nashville, in either the highlight reels or the injury notes. There's no reported connection to the surgically repaired leg, and we won't invent one; what the file shows is a second-year receiver missing camp time in late August for unspecified reasons, three weeks after declaring the leg fully healed.
The room changed around the absence. Jake Bobo hurt his knee on a leaping catch attempt in Friday's practice and went to injured reserve Saturday, his season over, per John Boyle at the team's website. That subtracts a receiver from the middle of the depth chart — the region where Horton's playing time gets decided — a week before rosters cut to 53. A healthy Horton likely benefits from that math; an unavailable one can't.
Back in June the preview put Horton's health first and the possibility of an opened target second, and this week delivered on both channels at once — a new unspecified absence, and an opening arriving via Bobo's injury. What to watch: whether Horton is on the field today in Nashville or in the finale, and whether the absence has a name by cutdown on Sunday. We'll check after cut day.
