Tory Horton is on Seattle's initial 53-man roster, per Kole Musgrove at Seahawks Wire. That is the one verified new fact of his week, and it arrived without any of the context we were waiting on. The absence we logged on August 20-third — Mike Macdonald, back on Monday the seventeenth, saying only that Horton was "working through some things," per Cameron Van Til at Seattle Sports — never got a name, and that characterization is two weeks old now. The week's accessed coverage contains no practice report and no injury report on him in either direction, so we can't tell you whether he's been on the field. We're saying so rather than guessing.
The roster decision does show something: the team kept him through cutdown. That's evidence about the front office's comfort level, not a health report, and nobody has published one of those. Bob Condotta at The Seattle Times, projecting the roster a day before the cuts, listed Horton among the top four receivers — a projection — and Athlon's post-cut chart puts him at outside receiver with kick and punt return duty, per Bryce Lazenby, which is also a projection. Around him the room kept shrinking: Cody White released and Emmanuel Henderson Jr. waived, per Van Til; Velus Jones Jr. released, per the Seattle Sports staff roster piece; and Irv Charles to injured reserve with a designation to return, eligible in Week Five, per Andrew Destin at The Athletic. Five receivers made it, with Montorie Foster Jr. the fifth, per Destin.
Our August 20-third episode watched for two things: Horton on the field in either remaining game, and a name for the absence by cutdown. No on both — no snaps for him appear in either game's account, and the absence stays unspecified. Back in June the preview put his health first and the possibility of an opened target second, and the week moved only the second: the depth chart keeps clearing in front of a player whose availability nobody has described. Both channels stay open, unanswered. We'll check back when a real status report exists.
