Harris was thrown to six times, all after halftime, and caught three for 20 yards, none for a first down; his six targets came out at minus 3.3 expected points, the lowest figure for any Chargers receiver. The first, incomplete on third and five with 12:17 left in the third quarter, ended the Chargers' first possession of the second half, in a 26–14 loss to the Cardinals.

13 to seven, Cardinals, 12 17 left in the third quarter, third and five at the Chargers 42. Justin Herbert threw short middle to Tre Harris, incomplete. −1.6 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −3.1 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. It was the first time Harris was thrown to all day, on the Chargers' first possession of the second half, and it sent them to a punt; Arizona's answer was a field goal, 16 to seven.
The line: six targets, three catches, 20 yards, no touchdowns, no first downs, −3.3 expected points on the targets, the lowest figure for any Chargers receiver; longest 11. No targets before halftime, six after. The catches: six yards short right on first and 10 from the Chargers 12 with two 37 left in the third, down 16 to 14, pushed out of bounds at the 18; three yards short left on second and 14 from the 16 with 13 13 left in the fourth; 11 yards short middle on third and 18 from the 27 with two oh four left, down 26 to 14, seven short. The incompletions: the third and five; short right on first and 15 with one oh five left in the third; deep right on second and 30 with four 28 left in the fourth. Two third-down targets, no conversions, and none of the three catches reached the line to gain.
Six targets tied for second on the team with Quentin Johnston, behind Ladd McConkey's seven; five went to David Njoku, two to Oronde Gadsden, one to Derius Davis, none without a receiver. Among the wide receivers it was McConkey seven, Johnston six, Harris six. The Chargers threw 10 pass plays before halftime and 20 after, and every one of Harris's targets came in the 20 — three of them before McConkey's last snap with 23 seconds left in the third quarter and three after. McConkey left with a chest injury and did not return, per Eric Smith at Chargers.com.
Back in June the preview called Harris a watchlist — the 70-fourth receiver at pick one 92, a price fronting him growth from 3.4 points a game on 2.7 targets a game, the fifth option a year ago, with Keenan Allen's hundred 22 targets vacated and a head coach calling him one of three elite receivers. The thing to watch was September targets against the 2.7 baseline. Sunday was six, more than double the baseline, and 20 yards, the least valuable set of targets on the team. One game says the volume the preview could not underwrite showed up, and the production it was waiting on did not yet. The Chargers are home to the Raiders on Sunday the twentieth. The number to watch is six against 2.7.
