The full read
Alvin Kamara scored the Saints' first two touchdowns of the night against the Falcons, his first two of the season: 7 carries, 23 yards, 2 touchdowns, +3.1 expected points added (EPA) on the ground. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
The first came on the opening snap of the second quarter. Down 14-0, second and 3 at the Atlanta 3, after Chris Olave's 44-yard catch: Kamara went up the middle for the touchdown, +1.1 EPA and +6.4 points of win probability. The second came early in the fourth, down 31-10: he converted fourth and 1 at the 16 with 2 yards, then scored from the 5 on third and 1.
He caught 5 of 7 targets for 35 yards, the longest a 17-yard catch behind the line on the Saints' second drive. In Weeks 2 and 3 he had 18 carries for 51 yards and -5.0 EPA, so Monday was his most efficient running of the season on his fewest carries. Three games: 25 carries, 74 yards, 2 touchdowns; 11 catches for 47 yards.
