Jeanty carried 21 times for 48 yards with a long of nine, and caught four of seven targets for 15 yards. Four straight carries from first and goal at the Chargers three late in the first quarter ended with a direct snap stopped for no gain on fourth and one. He took 21 of the 25 designed runs, in a 26–14 win over the Chargers.

No score, two 39 left in the first quarter, first and goal at the Chargers three after a Jack Bech catch. Ashton Jeanty got the ball four times in a row. Left end, −2. Up the middle, three. Right tackle, one. Then fourth and one at the one with 40 seconds left: a direct snap to Jeanty, up the middle, no gain, Chargers ball. That last play was worth −4.5 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −10.4 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. The only Raiders play that cost more by either measure was Kirk Cousins's first-quarter interception.
The line: 21 carries, 48 yards, no touchdown, one first down, four of the 21 successful, −12.2 expected points on the carries. The longest was nine, left end on first and 10 with six 33 left in the third, and the one first down came on the next snap, four yards on second and one. 10 carries before halftime for 21 yards, 11 after for 27. Three carries on third down, none converted: the one yard on third and two at the goal line, no gain on third and nine before the field goal that ended the half, and one yard on third and three with two 13 left. Six carries inside the 20 gained five yards between them. Two more runs, of one yard and seven, came back on holding penalties. In the passing game, seven targets, four catches, 15 yards, no first down, −4.5 expected points; both third-down throws to him fell incomplete, the second on third and one at the Las Vegas 26 with six 59 left and a three-point lead. The play-by-play has him injured on a three-yard carry with three 42 left; Mike Washington took the next handoff, Cody White scored on the snap after that, and Jeanty was back for the next possession and carried three straight times.
The split: Jeanty 21 of 25 designed runs, Washington three, Connor Heyward one. His seven targets tied Tre Tucker for the most on the team. Leaving out the kneel-downs, 28 of the Raiders' 57 pass and run plays were his.
Back in June the preview called Jeanty a watchlist — the sixth back off the board at pick 12, priced on a year-two leap the data could not license in either direction, a bet the preview said was on Klint Kubiak rather than on the receipts, after a rookie year of 3.7 yards a carry. Week 1 was 23 carries for a hundred two yards and two touchdown catches, and the number that episode left to watch was 23 carries against Washington's seven. Sunday it was 21 against three, so the workload is not in question. The efficiency is where the two games split: a shade under zero in Week 1, −12.2 here, at 2.3 yards a carry. Two games settle neither one. Las Vegas is at the Saints on Sunday the 20-seventh.
