The first four touches of Atlanta's opening 11-on-11 drive against the Colts all went to Bijan Robinson, and he converted every one of them productively — sharp cuts in the run game and a one-handed catch on a bubble route that he took upfield without breaking stride, per Will McFadden at atlantafalcons.com from Wednesday's joint practice in Indianapolis. After two weeks of "still ramping up" language, that is the sound of the ramp ending: the first live-tempo look at Kevin Stefanski's offense with the starters on the field, and it opened by feeding the best player four straight times, on the ground and through the air.

He then sat Saturday's 34-to-six win over the Colts along with roughly 30 teammates — Drake London, Kyle Pitts and most of the first team included, per McFadden and Tori McElhaney's game breakdown — which is the standard handling for a franchise back in late August and tells us nothing. The joint practice was the week's real evidence, and it was all his.

Our June preview built Robinson's case on volume and receiving work, with touchdowns that ran strangely cold for the workload — and the first live-tempo reading under the new staff pointed the usage straight at him, while goal-line work stays unobserved and one practice script is one practice script. What to watch next: nothing about cut day threatens him, so the checkable items are whether Robinson plays a series in the preseason finale against Miami or goes to September cold, and any first reporting on the goal-line package once game-planning begins. We'll check after cut day.
