17 all, six 17 left in overtime, second and seven at the Green Bay 48. Jordan Love threw short right to Chris Brooks, four yards behind the line of scrimmage by the air-yards figure, and Brooks took it to the New York 37 before Jarvis Brownlee pushed him out of bounds, 15 yards. Brownlee was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play, 15 more, first and 10 at the 22. +2.3 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 30.2 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. No run or pass play by either team moved that number further all afternoon. Two snaps later Green Bay kicked the winning field goal.
The line: four carries, 11 yards, no first downs, one of the four successful, −1.0 expected points on the carries; two targets, one catch, 15 yards, one first down, +1.8 on the targets. He did not touch the ball before halftime. His first carry was four yards on second and 23 with nine 18 left in the third. The second was first and goal at the New York seven with eight 41 left in the fourth, down 17 to seven, up the middle to the three; Christian Watson caught the touchdown on the next play. The last two came after Skyy Moore's 63-yard punt return put Green Bay at the New York 19, down 17 to 14: four yards, then −1, then an incompletion and the tying field goal. Three of his four carries came inside the New York 20. His other target was an incompletion on first and 10 with 10 58 left in the fourth.
The split: Kaleb Johnson eight carries, MarShawn Lloyd six, Brooks four. All three of the running back carries in regulation after Lloyd's fourth-quarter fumble were his; Johnson had both in overtime.
Back in June the preview made no call on Brooks: the 70-fourth running back off the board, a deep handcuff with no standalone role and a ceiling set by the men around him, and 13 catches a year ago as the one tell worth holding, because a back who can catch is the kind a staff keeps on the field. Week 1 was seven carries behind Lloyd's 13 with Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner's Exempt list, per Sports Illustrated. Sunday the carries fell to four and he was third of three, and the play that set up the winning field goal was a pass to him on second and seven in overtime. That is the tell the preview named, showing up once. One catch is one catch. Green Bay is home to the Falcons on Thursday the 20-fourth.
