Dak Prescott was close to his usual level against the Cardinals and got less help than usual: 19 of 29 for 195 yards and a touchdown, no interceptions, plus a 5-yard touchdown scramble. He was sacked 4 times, his most in a game this season. Over 37 dropbacks he was worth +5.2 expected points added (EPA), what a play was worth given down, distance and field position: +0.14 a dropback, against +0.17 through Week 7. His completion percentage over expected (CPOE), how often he completed passes against what their difficulty predicted, was -5.0, against +0.8.
His touchdown run came up 17-10 to open the fourth quarter, after two carries from the 2 lost 3 yards: third and goal at the 5, he scrambled around right end and in for 24-10, +2.5 EPA and 6.0 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. A 37-yard throw to George Pickens had set it up. His touchdown pass came in the second quarter, 9 yards over the middle to Ryan Flournoy on third and 1.
The sack that hurt most came in overtime. Tied 30-30, third and 8 at his own 31, he went down for 7, -1.9 EPA and 19.4 points of win probability, and Dallas punted. Arizona kicked the winning field goal on the next drive.
Through Week 7 he had +49.1 EPA on 296 dropbacks, 13 touchdown passes, 5 interceptions and 7 sacks in seven games.
