Wicks caught two of four targets for seventy-three yards and a touchdown, all in the first half: a sixty-four-yard catch deep right to the Washington six with one fifty-seven left in the first quarter, the longest play of the game, and a nine-yard touchdown short left on second and seven in the second. His two third-down targets were incomplete and both drives ended in punts, in a 24–22 win over the Commanders.

Nothing to three, one 57 left in the first quarter, second and four at the Philadelphia 30. Jalen Hurts deep right to Dontayvion Wicks, 64 yards to the Washington six. The catch was worth +4.2 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — second among all Eagles plays behind only Dallas Goedert's 43-yard touchdown, and 13.1 points of win probability, the chance of winning after the play against before it, the third-largest gain on any Eagles pass or run. After a timeout, Saquon Barkley ran four yards to the two, wiped out by a holding penalty on Cam Jurgens; from first and 16 at the 16 Barkley went backwards two and then forward one, and on third and 17 Hurts hit Goedert deep right for the touchdown. Seven to three.
Four targets, two catches, 73 yards, one touchdown, two first downs, +3.8 expected points on the targets, and all four came before halftime. The touchdown: second and seven at the Washington nine, six 35 left in the second quarter, up seven to three, short left, nine yards, two snaps after Barkley's 42-yard run. 14 to three. The two incompletions were both on third down, and both ended drives: third and eight at the Philadelphia 48 with eight 47 left in the first, short left, −1.6; and third and six at the Philadelphia 31 with 12 16 left in the half, deep right, −1.2. Philadelphia punted both times. After halftime, no targets in 12 pass plays. 79 air yards on the four throws, 21 yards after the catch. 73 receiving yards was second on the team to Goedert's 77.
Six throws went to DeVonta Smith, five to Goedert, four each to Wicks and Makai Lemon, two to Barkley, one to Will Shipley, and three carry no receiver. The 14 completions were four to Goedert, three each to Smith and Lemon, two to Wicks, one each to Barkley and Shipley; the three touchdowns went to Goedert twice and Wicks. 16 pass plays before halftime and 12 after; Wicks's four targets were a quarter of the first-half pass plays and none of the second.
Back in June the preview made no call on Wicks — WR84 at pick two 15, a price that matched his Green Bay production to the decimal, with Philadelphia's fifth-and-sixth trade and a one-year, 12-and-a-half-million extension as the reason to think the Eagles saw more, and a four-receiver scramble for A.J. Brown's targets as the reason to doubt it — and it said to watch the pecking order against Hollywood Brown and Makai Lemon, and whether Hurts looked his way. Sunday the pecking order by targets was Smith six, Wicks and Lemon four each, and Hurts looked his way for the longest completion of the game and a touchdown. One game with every target in the first half is half a game of evidence, and the other half had none. Philadelphia is at the Titans on Sunday the twentieth.
