Emanuel Wilson carried Seattle's run game against the 49ers and it went nowhere: 20 carries, 61 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 lost fumble, -8.3 expected points added (EPA) on the ground. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. One carry in four (25%) gained positive EPA.
The fumble defined it. Up 10-7 with 8:31 left in the second quarter, first and 10 at the Seattle 9, he ran right end for 2 yards and Fred Warner forced the ball out. Malik Mustapha recovered at the 12: -5.1 EPA and -19.6 points of win probability. On the next snap Christian McCaffrey scored from 11 yards out for a 14-10 49ers lead.
His touchdown came in the first quarter, down 7-0: first and 2 at the San Francisco 2, a 2-yard run off right guard that tied it. His longest run was 8 yards, and he caught 2 passes for 11.
Through Week 4 he had 53 carries, 190 yards and -8.9 EPA, with 38% of carries gaining positive EPA. Week 5 nearly matched those four games' EPA on its own.
