Engram was targeted once and caught it for 17 yards on first and 10 with 8:23 left in a tied fourth quarter, worth 7.3 points of win probability on the go-ahead drive. A 5-yard catch in the second quarter came back on a penalty, and his five targets from Week 1 became one, in a 20–13 win over the Jaguars.

Tied at 13, eight 23 left in the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Jacksonville 45. Bo Nix threw deep left to Evan Engram for 17 yards to the 28, Travis Hunter on the tackle. +1.0 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 7.3 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. An incompletion and a pass-interference flag later, Jonah Coleman scored the go-ahead touchdown from the three.
That is the line: one target, one catch, 17 yards, one first down. One other catch does not count — five yards on first and 10 early in the second quarter, erased by an illegal formation penalty on the offense.
One of 31 throws. Jaylen Waddle had 10 targets, Courtland Sutton four, and three went to another tight end, Nate Adkins, who caught all three for 32 yards and the tying touchdown and also carried once for six. Week 1 the tight-end work had been Engram's: five targets, four catches, 43 yards and Denver's only touchdown.
Back in June the preview leaned watchlist on Engram — a real buy-low after one touchdown on 50 catches last season, with a roster cut as the thing that would end the thesis. After Week 1 the episode said the touchdown was the less durable part and the share, five of 28 throws, was the more durable one. Sunday the share was one of 31, in a game where the passing offense more than doubled its yards. That contradicts the first read, and the honest update is that the share has now been one thing and then another. Two games settle little. Which tight end sees the targets next week is the thing to watch. Denver is home to the Rams on Sunday night the 20-seventh.
