Nothing to nothing, 10 25 left in the first quarter, third and nine at the Jacksonville 45, New England's first drive. Drake Maye threw short middle for Hunter Henry, 15 yards in the air, incomplete. −1.8 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and the Patriots punted on the next snap.
The line: two targets, one catch, five yards, no first downs, −1.4 expected points on the two. The catch was the second snap of the second half, second and six at the New England 42, short right, pushed out at the 47. Maye was stopped for no gain on third and one, and Rhamondre Stevenson converted the fourth down. One target in each half, none after 14 19 left in the third quarter, and none inside the Jacksonville 20.
The split: two of New England's 30 throws that had a receiver. Mack Hollins had nine, DeMario Douglas five, Romeo Doubs four, Stevenson and Kyle Williams three each. Henry was the only tight end the Patriots threw to.
Back in June the preview made no call on Henry: the best receiving season of his career last year, 60 catches on 87 targets with seven touchdowns, the volume an identity and the touchdowns the part likely to fall back. Week 1 was three targets, all caught, for 26 yards, and the red-zone touchdown went to Eli Raridon. Week 2 he led the team with five targets and caught three for 40 yards. Sunday was two. Three games, 10 targets, seven catches, 71 yards, no touchdowns: a little over three targets a game against five last season. The volume the preview called identity has come and gone week to week, and three games settle little. New England is at the Bills on Sunday the fourth.
