Brissett completed 17 of 28 throws for 95 yards, one touchdown and one interception, took two sacks for 14 yards, both on third down, and scrambled once for 7. His longest completion was 9 yards, five times. The touchdown was 2 yards to Trey McBride on fourth and two; after halftime he was 5 of 9 for 23 yards, in a 31–7 loss to the Seahawks.

14 to seven, Seahawks, 11 39 left in the third quarter, third and seven at the Arizona 23. Jacoby Brissett threw deep left for Michael Wilson, and Julian Love intercepted it at the Arizona 44. −2.8 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −4 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. By expected points it was Arizona's worst play of the day, and it came a week after he threw 37 times without an interception. Seattle kicked the field goal that made it 17 to seven, and Arizona did not cross midfield again until its final possession.
The line: 17 completions on 28 throws, 95 yards, one touchdown, one interception, two sacks for 14 yards, −8.1 expected points on 30 pass plays. That is 3.4 yards a throw. The longest completion was nine yards, and there were five of those. Before halftime it was 12 of 19 for 72 yards; after it, five of nine for 23. The touchdown was the first snap of the second quarter, fourth and two at the Seattle two, short left to Trey McBride, +3.7 expected points and 13.6 points of win probability, Arizona's best play of the day on both measures. He set it up himself on the snap before, third and nine from the nine, scrambling around left end for seven, his one run. On third down he had 10 pass plays: eight throws, three completions, all three converted — two to McBride, one to Wilson — and both sacks, seven yards each, the second on third and two with 12 16 left in the fourth quarter. Arizona converted three of 12 third downs. The two throws the play-by-play labels deep both went to Wilson, two snaps apart, one incomplete and one intercepted.
The ball went 10 times to McBride, seven to Wilson, three each to Jeremiyah Love and Kendrick Bourne, twice to Tyler Allgeier, once to Marvin Harrison, and twice to no receiver. Arizona ran 20 pass plays before halftime and 10 after, and five offensive plays in the fourth quarter.
Back in June the preview put Brissett on the watchlist — the seventeenth quarterback per game a year ago priced as the 20-ninth, the gap explained by a contract standoff and a bridge label. Week 1 read like the production side of that argument: 27 of 37 for 277 yards, no interceptions, +9.0 expected points on the pass plays. Sunday took nearly all of it back, −8.1. Across two games the passing game is roughly even by expected points, with one game of each kind. Two games settle little, and this one is the first line on the other side of the ledger. Arizona is at the 49ers on Sunday the 20-seventh.
