Jahmyr Gibbs smashed the Cardinals on the ground: 25 carries, 151 yards, 2 touchdowns, +6.0 expected points added (EPA) rushing. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. He added 5 catches on 6 targets for 56 yards.

The run that got Detroit going came down 7-0 early in the second quarter. First and 10 at the Arizona 20, 13:16 left: Gibbs went off right tackle for 16 yards to the 4, +1.3 EPA and +3.3 points of win probability. Two snaps later he scored up the middle from the 1 to tie it 7-7.

His most valuable touch was a catch. Up 14-7 with 8:29 left in the half, first and 10 at the Detroit 25, a short pass to the left went 23 yards: +1.4 EPA and +4.9 points of win probability, on the drive Jameson Williams finished with a touchdown.

He kept coming. A 22-yard run late in the third reached the 2, though two carries from there netted 1 yard before Jared Goff scored on fourth down. Up 38-14 in the fourth, runs of 8, 11 and 15 yards moved a drive he finished from the 3 for 45-14.

It was a turnaround from his baseline. Weeks 1 through 4 his 80 carries brought -1.5 EPA. This time 56% of his carries gained positive EPA, against 47% then. Through Week 4: 353 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns, 22 catches for 187 yards and 2 more scores.
