Ferguson caught 3 of 5 targets for 23 yards and a 19-yard touchdown deep right on second and 11 that cut Baltimore's lead to 24–19 late in the third quarter. Earlier in the quarter, on first and ten at the Baltimore 23 with Dallas down 17–13, he lost a fumble after a catch, the only turnover of the game, in a 34–31 loss to the Ravens in Rio de Janeiro.

17 to 13, Ravens, 10 40 left in the third quarter, first and 10 at the Baltimore 23. Dak Prescott threw short over the middle to Jake Ferguson, caught behind the line; Travis Jones forced a fumble and Trenton Simpson recovered at the 25. −5.6 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 19 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. No Dallas pass or run cost more of either, and it was the only turnover of the game. Earlier on the same drive Dallas had converted a fourth and four.
He answered later in the quarter. 24 to 13, Ravens, one 53 left in the third, second and 11 at the Baltimore 19: Prescott threw deep right to Ferguson, 17 yards in the air, for a 19-yard touchdown. +3.1 expected points and eight points of win probability, and CeeDee Lamb caught the two-point try to make it 24 to 21.
The line: five targets, three catches, 23 yards, one touchdown, one first down, −4.6 expected points on his targets, the lowest of any Cowboy thrown to. The third catch was six yards on first and 10 in the second quarter. The incompletions: third and six at midfield with four seconds left in the first quarter, followed by a punt, and first and 10 at the Dallas 48 in the third. Two targets before halftime, three after.
Five targets were 13 percent of Prescott's 40 throws, fourth on the team behind George Pickens's 11 eight each to Lamb and Ryan Flournoy.
Back in June the preview's read on Ferguson was volume over touchdowns: 82 catches on a hundred two targets, 600 yards and eight scores across 17 games, with the catches as the part to trust. Week 1 was two targets and six yards, including no gain on first and goal from the one, in a loss at the Giants. Week 2 was four catches on four targets for 43 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Washington. Three games: 11 targets, nine catches, 72 yards, three touchdowns. That runs opposite to the June read — under four targets a game against six last season, and touchdowns ahead of last season's pace. Three games settle little. Dallas is at the Texans on Sunday the fourth.
