Jalen Coker got on the stat sheet Friday in Jacksonville: one catch on one target for four yards, per the CBS Sports box score, and the context is better than the line — it came from Bryce Young during the four-for-four stretch of the starters' 58-yard touchdown drive, per Kole Noble at A to Z Sports, who listed Coker alongside Tetairoa McMillan as Young's completions on the series. Four yards is not evidence of anything; catching passes from the starting quarterback with the first-team offense in late August is at least the right room to be standing in.

The quieter half of the week is the one that matters more. Coker is the undrafted receiver Carolina extended in June — three years, 35 million dollars — on starter-grade per-target production, a 77 percent catch rate last season, with one recurring problem: soft-tissue injuries that cost him six games in each of the past two years, both times starting in August. This August's log is still clean: another full week, no injury mention anywhere in the reporting, while around him the receiver room absorbed damage — Xavier Legette twisted an ankle Wednesday and missed the game, day-to-day per Michael David Smith at Pro Football Talk, and the depth candidates behind the top of the room, John Metchie and Jimmy Horn Jr., spent Friday making cases for the last spots, per Noble.

The clean practice log was the thing our June preview said to watch, and it is passing its test week by week; the target-allotment question waits for games that count. What to watch: whether Coker's first-team usage repeats in Friday's finale against Houston, and whether the clean log survives the final week of camp. We'll check after cut day.
