Goff completed 25 of 32 for 269 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, and was 10 of 10 for 152 yards after halftime, including a 49-yarder to Isaac TeSlaa from the Detroit 35 with 4:06 left in a 24–24 game and the 11-yard winning touchdown to Jahmyr Gibbs on third and five. He was sacked twice, both in the first quarter, in a 31–24 win over the Jets.

24 all, four oh six left in the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Detroit 35, moments after the Jets' two-point try had tied it. Jared Goff threw deep middle to Isaac TeSlaa, 19 yards in the air, and TeSlaa was brought down at the New York 16 after 49. +3.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 14.5 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. Three snaps later, third and five at the 11, Goff threw short right to Jahmyr Gibbs for the touchdown that won it, 16.8 more points of win probability.
The line: 25 of 32 throws, 269 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, sacked twice. Detroit's 34 pass plays, sacks included, were worth +12.1 expected points. The halves split sharply. Before halftime he was 15 of 22 for a hundred 17 yards on 24 pass plays, with both sacks in the first quarter, a 10-yarder on third and seven and a nine-yarder on second and 10. After halftime he threw 10 times and completed all 10 for a hundred 52 yards, while Detroit ran 15 designed runs. On third down he had seven pass plays, six throws, four completions and three conversions. The other touchdown was four yards to Amon-Ra St. Brown with one 40 left in the half, two snaps after he converted fourth and two at the Jets nine with a five-yarder to TeSlaa. He also scrambled twice for eight yards and took two kneels to end it.
He spread the 31 throws with a receiver across eight Lions: eight each to St. Brown and Gibbs, four each to Jameson Williams and Sam LaPorta, three to TeSlaa, two to Brock Wright, one each to two others. None of the 10 second-half completions went to St. Brown.
Back in June the preview's read on Goff was that the line was the flattest in his range: four Detroit seasons that all looked alike, and last season's 4564 yards, 34 touchdowns and eight interceptions was another of them. The unknowns it named were a rebuilt offensive line and a new play-caller. Week 1 was 26 of 39 for 206 two touchdowns, the second in overtime. Week 2 was 26 of 38 for 327 four touchdowns, with four sacks. Three games: 77 of a hundred nine, 802 yards, eight touchdowns, no interceptions, seven sacks. That is the steady line the preview described, and three games settle little beyond it. Detroit is at the Panthers on Sunday night, the fourth.
