Jaylen Warren ran below his usual level against the Buccaneers, but his two catches mattered: 14 carries, 50 yards, -1.5 expected points added (EPA) and 36% of carries successful, plus 2 catches on 4 targets for 28 yards and +0.4 EPA. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.
The bigger catch came in overtime. Tied 19-19, first and 10 at the Tampa Bay 44 with 7:39 left, he caught a short pass over the middle for 12 yards to the 32, +0.7 EPA and +10.0 points of win probability. Two snaps later his 7-yard run on second and 5 took the ball to the Tampa Bay 20, and Germie Bernard scored on that drive for 26-19. In the fourth quarter, down 16-10, his 16-yard catch on third and 10 was worth +2.0 EPA and set up a field goal.
The runs were harder. His overtime opener lost 3 yards, -1.3 EPA, and late in regulation, tied 16-16, he got 2 yards to the Tampa Bay 1 before Pittsburgh settled for a 19-16 lead.
Through Week 5 he had 70 carries, 410 yards, 1 rushing touchdown, +6.6 EPA and a 46% success rate, with at least 93 rushing yards in each of Weeks 3 to 5.
