Love completed 28 of 53 throws for 312 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, and took one sack, on a night Green Bay ran the ball nine times for 17 yards — the fewest rush plays and rush yards by any team in a game this season. He was 9 of 19 for 96 yards before halftime and 19 of 34 for 216 after, and his fourth-and-one throw at the Atlanta 7 fell incomplete, in a 35–14 loss to the Falcons.

Nothing to nothing, nine 18 left in the first quarter, third and 11 at the Green Bay 12. Jordan Love threw deep right to Matthew Golden, 40 yards in the air, 45 yards to the Atlanta 43. +4.5 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 9.5 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the largest gain by either measure on any Packers offensive play all night. Christian Watson caught the four-yard touchdown that finished the drive. The other end of the ledger came with 10 oh two left in the third, down 17 to seven, fourth and one at the Atlanta seven: short right to Watson, incomplete, −9.8 points of win probability, and Atlanta drove the length of the field for the touchdown that made it 24 to seven.
The line: 28 completions on 53 throws, 312 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, one sack for one yard, +3.6 expected points on 54 pass plays. Nine of 19 for 96 yards before halftime, 19 of 34 for 216 after. The second touchdown was 15 yards to Golden on second and seven with eight 21 left in the fourth, down 27 to seven. The interception was second and 10 at the Atlanta 10 with a minute 18 left, down 21: short middle for Jonnu Smith, intercepted at the three and returned 17 yards, −4.3 expected points, the costliest Packers offensive play of the night by that measure. A third-and-nine play from the Green Bay 12 in the second quarter was ruled a sack and a lost fumble at the three, then reversed on review to an incompletion to Skyy Moore; Green Bay punted. His one carry in the stat line is an aborted snap in the third quarter that Tucker Kraft recovered. Seven throws traveled 20 or more yards in the air and one was caught, the 45. On third down he threw 15 times, completed nine and converted six — Green Bay was six of 15 — and on fourth down he completed two of three, 10 yards each to Moore and J. Michael Sturdivant, both in the fourth quarter after the miss at the seven.
The ball went 12 times to Golden, 10 to Watson, eight to Kraft, seven to Moore, three each to MarShawn Lloyd, Smith, Kaleb Johnson and Sturdivant, once each to Chris Brooks and Bo Melton, and two throws carry no receiver. 54 pass plays against nine designed runs, 19 five before halftime, 35 four after. Nine rush plays and 17 rushing yards are both the fewest by any team in any of the 66 team-games played this season, and 54 pass plays are the third-most. Green Bay trailed by at least 10 for the whole second half.
Back in June the preview made no call on Love: the eighteenth quarterback off the board, priced for continuation after two flat seasons, with the environment as the whole case for more and his September completion rate as the number to watch. Week 1 was 21 of 42 for 387 yards in a loss. Week 2 was 16 of 29 for a hundred 45 in an overtime win. Thursday was 28 of 53. Three games: 65 completions on a hundred 24 throws, 52 percent, 844 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions. The completion rate the preview asked about has been 50, 55 53 percent, against 66 a year ago, and the throw count has gone 29 to 53 in a week because the games have. Green Bay is at the Buccaneers on Sunday the fourth.
