Josh Downs — Week 4: Four Targets, Sixteen Yards

2026 NFL Season · Half-PPR Scoring · Tuesday, Oct 6

Downs caught 3 of 4 targets for 16 yards after 9 and 11 targets the previous two weeks; his 5-yard catch on third and 14 in the second quarter drew an unnecessary roughness flag that moved the Colts to the Washington 13, the biggest swing of the game for Indianapolis, three snaps before their first touchdown, in a 30-13 win over the Commanders.

Six to nothing, Commanders, five 13 left in the second quarter, third and 14 at the Washington 30. Daniel Jones threw short right to Josh Downs at the line, Downs got five yards, and Robertson was flagged for unnecessary roughness, 12 more and a first down at the 13. +2 and a half expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 8.4 points of win probability, the chance of winning after the play against before it, the biggest swing of the game for the Colts. Three snaps later Jonathan Taylor scored.

The line: four targets, three catches, 16 yards, no first downs of his own, +0.5 expected points on the targets. The other two catches were both on third down in the first quarter, two yards on third and five and nine on third and 10, and the Colts punted after each. The incompletion was second and 11 in the third quarter. Four targets tied him with Taylor for fourth on the team, behind Laquon Treadwell and Ashton Dulin with six each.

Last week's episode had the bigger version of his role showing up two weeks running, nine targets and then 11. Sunday it was four. Four games: 28 targets, 17 catches, 202 yards.
