30 to 23, Seahawks, one oh three left in the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Chargers' 29 in the no-huddle. Two snaps had already moved the ball from the 11. Justin Herbert was sacked by Nwosu at the 20, the ball came out, and Hall recovered for Seattle. −4.4 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and −7 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the largest swing on any snap from scrimmage in the game. Seattle knelt twice.

The line: 19 of 31, a hundred 89 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions, four sacks, −8.0 expected points on 35 pass plays; six runs for 40 yards, five of them scrambles. Five of 14 for 36 yards before halftime, 14 of 17 for a hundred 53 after. His first throw of the game, short middle for Oronde Gadsden, was intercepted at the Chargers' 45. The second interception came with a minute 29 left in the half, down 13 to three, short right for Ladd McConkey, returned to the Chargers' 20, and Seattle scored two snaps later. The touchdown was second and nine at the Seattle nine in the third quarter, short middle to Kimani Vidal, one snap after Herbert was the target on a Tre Harris pass that fell incomplete. The best throw was fourth and seven at his own 10 with three 28 left, down 30 to 20, deep right to Quentin Johnston for 44, +4.3, the most valuable Chargers play of the day; that drive ended in a field goal. The longest run was a 26-yard scramble on third and eight with 27 seconds left in the half, which set up the second field goal.

Back in June the preview made no call on Herbert, and named the interception rate, after 13 last season, and the sack count as the two things to watch. Through four games: 71 of a hundred 19, 816 yards, four touchdown passes, six interceptions, 12 sacks, and four losses. Sunday's four sacks were his most in a game this season.
