A week after playing no offensive snaps, Johnson led the Packers with 8 carries for 32 yards and three of their four rushing first downs, with runs of 12 and 11, the second of them the first play of the winning drive in overtime. He also fumbled once, recovered by Jordan Love, and had no target, in a 20–17 overtime win over the Jets.

17 all, seven 29 left in overtime, first and 10 at the Green Bay 34, the first snap of the possession that won the game. Kaleb Johnson went around left end and was pushed out of bounds at the 45, 11 yards. +0.7 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 6.7 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. He carried again on the next snap for three. Four plays after the 11-yarder, Green Bay kicked the field goal.
The line: eight carries, 32 yards, no touchdowns, three first downs, three of the eight successful, −1.6 expected points on the carries, no targets. The carries went four, 12, two, seven, −4, −3, 11 three. The first, with two 35 left in the first quarter, was his first carry as a Packer. The 12 came on the last snap of the first quarter, left guard from the Green Bay 36, and started the drive that produced the game's first touchdown; he added seven on second and five on the same drive. The −4 was first and 10 at the Green Bay 46 with five 58 left in the second quarter, tied at seven: stopped behind the line, the ball knocked loose by Andre Cisco, and Jordan Love recovered it at the 38. Two more runs, both for −3, came back on Green Bay holding penalties and are not in his line. Five carries before halftime for 21 yards, three after for 11, overtime included. None came on third down and none inside the New York 20.
The split is the news: Johnson eight carries, MarShawn Lloyd six, Chris Brooks four. His 32 yards led the team and his three rushing first downs were three of Green Bay's four. After Lloyd lost a fumble early in the fourth quarter, Brooks took the three running back carries left in regulation and Johnson both of them in overtime.
Back in June the preview called Johnson a watchlist, and it was written about a different team: the 70-seventh running back off the board, a third-round pick coming off a Pittsburgh rookie year of 28 carries for 69 yards that ended with him a healthy scratch. Week 1, in a Green Bay uniform, was two kickoff returns and no offensive snaps, and that episode said the first number to look for was the first carry. It came in the first quarter and seven more followed. 32 yards on Sunday is nearly half of what he gained all of last season. It is also one game, four yards a carry with a fumble in it, in a rotation that has had a different leader each week, and Josh Jacobs remains on the Commissioner's Exempt list, per Sports Illustrated. Green Bay is home to the Falcons on Thursday the 20-fourth.
