Boutte caught both of his targets for 21 yards, both on the drive that put Houston ahead 17–16: 15 yards short middle to the Indianapolis 12 with 2:52 left, the largest win-probability gain on any Houston play, and 6 more to the 6. He had no target before that drive, in a 19–17 loss to the Colts.

16 to 10, Colts, two 52 left in the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Indianapolis 27. C.J. Stroud threw short over the middle to Kayshon Boutte for 15 yards to the 12. +1.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 10.5 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. No Houston pass or run all day gained more win probability. On the next snap Stroud went short left to Boutte again, six yards to the six. Two snaps later Woody Marks scored from the one, and the extra point put Houston ahead 17 to 16 with a minute 48 left. The Colts won it with a field goal.
The line: two targets, two catches, 21 yards, no touchdown, one first down, +1.5 expected points on the targets. 13 two yards in the air on the two throws. Both came inside the last three minutes; he was not thrown to before that drive.
Houston threw 25 times to a receiver. Xavier Hutchinson had six, Foster Moreau and Jared Wayne four each, Dalton Schultz three, and Boutte, Jaylin Noel and David Montgomery two each. Among the wide receivers that put him level with Noel, behind Hutchinson and Wayne. Nico Collins was out for a second straight game with a hamstring injury, per NBC Sports.
Back in June the preview's read on Boutte was a 40-eighth-place receiver in New England whose production came from efficiency on a small target count, with availability mattering more than what he did on the field. Week 1 in Houston was two targets and one 21-yard catch. Week 2 was five targets and 37 yards with Collins out. Sunday was two targets again, and they came when the game was on the line. Three games: nine targets, six catches, 79 yards. With Collins missing two straight weeks, the targets have gone to Hutchinson, Wayne and the tight ends before they have come to Boutte, and the role is still being filled in. Houston is home to the Cowboys on Sunday the fourth.
