Three to nothing, Washington, seven 49 left in the first quarter against the Colts, second and goal at the Indianapolis seven. Kaytron Allen went right guard for two yards to the five. On third down Marcus Mariota was sacked, and Washington kicked a field goal. −0.6 expected points added on the carry — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position.

That was his one carry in a game still in doubt. The other two came with Washington down 30 to 13 in the last five minutes: −2 at midfield, and one yard at the Colts' 32. Three carries, one yard, no targets; three of Washington's 20 designed runs, behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt's nine and Austin Ekeler's four.

Back in June the preview named goal-line work as the door his size might open first. Sunday he got one carry inside the 10, and it gained two. Through four games: 12 carries for 41 yards, all in Weeks 1, 2 and 4.
