Coleman caught all six of his targets for 63 yards and four first downs, converted both third downs thrown his way, and had a 22-yard catch to the Detroit 13 on the drive that ended in Dawson Knox's touchdown. He left briefly with an injury before halftime and returned. Six targets tied him for second on the Bills, in a 41–31 win over the Lions.

Seven to nothing, Bills, six 27 left in the first quarter, third and six at the Buffalo 25. Josh Allen threw short left to Keon Coleman, who was pushed out at the 32 for seven and the first down. +1.7 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 4.5 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the second-largest gain in win probability by a Bills pass play all night. Five plays later Allen hit Joshua Palmer for the 43-yard touchdown.
The line: six targets, six catches, 63 yards, four first downs, +5.9 expected points on his targets, second on the team to Dalton Kincaid. 48 air yards, 15 after the catch. The catches: the seven on third and six; 22 to the Detroit 13 on the second snap of the second quarter, on the drive that ended in Dawson Knox's touchdown; four to the nine on the next play; nine on second and 10 in the third; nine on third and seven in the fourth, converted, on the drive that ended in James Cook's touchdown; and 12 to the Detroit 23 three plays later. Both third-down targets caught, both converted. Three targets before halftime, three after. He was injured on a Kincaid catch with a minute 36 left in the half and was back in the game 38 seconds of clock later.
Six targets tied him with Khalil Shakir for second on the team behind Kincaid's eight, and his 63 yards led the wide receivers. DJ Moore left injured in the second quarter without a target; before that, Coleman had three of the 13 throws.
Back in June the preview's read was that Coleman's volume had never reached the level that carries — 60-first among wide receivers across 12 games — and that DJ Moore's arrival put another receiver above him on the depth chart. Week 1 was one target plus a two-point try. Thursday was six for six, with Moore gone after the second quarter. The catch rate is real and the share is a night with the receiver above him absent; those are two different facts and the second one explains part of the first. Buffalo is home to the Chargers on Sunday the 20-seventh. Whether six survives Moore's return is the thing to watch.
