20 to seven, Bears, 11 13 left in the fourth quarter, third and one at the Philadelphia 25. Kyle Monangai went behind the left guard for six yards to the 19 and the first down. +0.9 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and almost nothing in win probability, because Chicago was already a heavy favorite. It was his fifth carry of the drive, and the sixth came on the next snap. That possession had started at the Chicago 42 with 23 seconds left in the third quarter and ran 13 plays; Monangai carried on six of them for 26 yards, and Keenum scored from the one with seven 21 left.
The line: 10 carries, 31 yards, no touchdown, three first downs, four of the 10 successful, −1.0 expected points on the carries; no targets. The carries went three, −2, −2, six, eight, one, seven, two, six and two. Three before halftime for −1: three yards in the first quarter, then on the second-quarter field-goal drive, −2 from the Philadelphia 18 on first and 10 and −2 from the seven on first and goal; that drive had reached the seven and ended in a 29-yard field goal. Seven after halftime for 32. The six on the touchdown drive: eight around right end on second and seven on the first snap of the fourth quarter, one, then after a neutral zone infraction on Philadelphia, seven, two, the six on third and one, and two more from the 19. One third-down carry, converted. Three carries inside the Philadelphia 20, one inside the 10. Nothing thrown his way, after two targets in each of the first two weeks.
The split: D'Andre Swift 20 designed runs, Monangai 10, Luther Burden one, Keenum one. Swift's 20 were the most he has had this season. The carry at the one in the second quarter went to Swift, −2 on second and one, and the third and one in the fourth went to Monangai; the touchdown from the one at the end of that drive went to Keenum, one snap after Swift had carried four yards to the one.
Back in June the preview made no call on Monangai: the change of pace behind Swift, with growth resting on whether his share of the carries grew, and the split as the September watch. Week One was 10 carries to Swift's 18, 61 of his hundred yards on one run. Week Two was 10 to 16. Monday was 10 to 20. 10, 10 10, against the starter's 18, 16 20, so Monday's share was the smallest of the three. Three games: 30 carries, a hundred 78 yards, one touchdown, four catches for 35. Chicago hosts the Jets on Sunday the fourth.
