Three to three against the Rams, 14 53 left in the second quarter, fourth and two at the Philadelphia 47. One snap earlier Jalen Hurts had missed Dontayvion Wicks on third down. This time he threw short left to Makai Lemon, 12 yards past the line, and Lemon reached the Los Angeles 34, 13 yards and the first down. +3.2 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — and 12.3 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it, the biggest gain on any Eagles snap all day.
The line: six targets, three catches, 27 yards, two first downs, +1.6 expected points on the targets. The other catches were eight yards on second and six late in the first quarter, a first down, and six on first and 20 on the fourth-down drive. Three throws missed, one of them on third and 14. Five targets before halftime, one after, as the passing game produced 10 yards in the second half.
Six targets were second on the team to Darius Cooper's seven, one ahead of Wicks.
Back in June the preview would not make a call on Lemon: the twentieth pick, a slot job, and the question of whether it would be his alone or split with Wicks. The split has gone four and four, one and six, four and five, and now six and five, the first week he has had more. Four games: 15 targets, 10 catches, 65 yards.
