Rashid Shaheed Camp Update — August 31: The Usage Question Rolls to Week One
2026 NFL Season · Monday, Aug 31
Shaheed is on the initial fifty-three-man roster, per Seahawks Wire, in a receiver room trimmed to five, and the week produced no individual note on him at all. With the first offense not playing a series in either remaining preseason game, the question of how Seattle uses him now waits for the regular season.
When Rashid Shaheed's week moves the numbers, you'll know — every episode, in one weekly email.

Rashid Shaheed made Seattle's initial 53-man roster, per Kole Musgrove at Seahawks Wire, in a receiver room the cutdown trimmed to five — Cody White released and Emmanuel Henderson Jr. waived, per Cameron Van Til at Seattle Sports; Velus Jones Jr. released, per the Seattle Sports staff roster piece; Irv Charles to injured reserve with a designation to return, per Andrew Destin at The Athletic. Beyond the roster listing, the week produced nothing individual on him: no practice note, no injury item, no quote, no snap. The first offense didn't play a series in either remaining preseason game.
The one new usage signal is thin: Athlon's post-cut chart lists him at outside receiver opposite Jaxon Smith-Njigba and as a kick and punt return option, per Bryce Lazenby. That's a projection from one outlet, not a beat report, and we're not treating it as a role.
Our August 20-third episode watched for a starter series and for where Shaheed's snaps and targets would sit when the first group finally played. The first group never played, so the window gave no answer — and that's the honest update, not a hedge. Back in June the preview framed Shaheed as one question with two answers on film: the big New Orleans target share against the smaller Seattle one, with a 20-million-dollar signing bonus arguing the champion didn't pay for the smaller version. A full August without the first offense on a field left that question exactly where June set it down. The first real target-share data of the season arrives when the games do. We'll pick the thread back up once the real snaps exist.
