Rico Dowdle had his busiest game of the season against the Saints: 9 carries for 41 yards and 6 catches on 6 targets for 45, with -0.9 expected points added (EPA) on the ground and +1.6 through the air. EPA is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. Three of his 9 carries gained positive EPA.

The run that mattered came up 16-10 with 5:52 left: first and 10 at the Pittsburgh 35, 16 yards off right tackle to the New Orleans 49, +1.2 EPA. He added a 6-yard catch and a 5-yard run on that drive, and the Saints never got the ball back. His 5-yard run on first and 9 to the New Orleans 4 came the snap before Darnell Washington's touchdown, and his 11-yard catch opened the drive that ended in a 47-yard field goal at the half.

It was a step up on a slow start. Through Week 6, in three games, he had 22 carries for 77 yards and -5.1 EPA, -0.23 a carry, and 7 catches for 37 yards; here it was -0.10 a carry.
