Diggs caught 5 of 6 targets for 47 yards and both Washington touchdowns: four yards from Jayden Daniels on second and goal with 6:40 left in the second quarter, and 20 yards from Marcus Mariota on first and ten with 9:09 left in the game. His targets were worth plus 5.6 expected points, the most on the team, in a 37–20 loss to the Cowboys.

30 to 13, Cowboys, nine oh nine left in the fourth quarter, first and 10 at the Dallas 20. Marcus Mariota threw deep right to Stefon Diggs for the touchdown, 20 yards, all of it in the air. +2.5 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position — the second-largest figure on any Washington pass or run in the game, and 2.4 points of win probability, the chance of winning the game after the play against before it. It finished a 10-play, 73-yard drive that was all passes, and with the extra point it was 30 to 20. His first touchdown had come from the other quarterback: second and goal at the Dallas four, six 40 left in the second quarter, down three to 17, no huddle, Jayden Daniels short left, four yards.
The line: six targets, five catches, 47 yards, two touchdowns, four first downs, +5.6 expected points on the targets, the most of any Washington receiver. The other three catches: 10 on third and six with a minute 17 left in the half, to the Dallas 28; eight on second and nine with 21 seconds left, out of bounds at the five; and five on third and one with 12 36 left in the fourth, on the touchdown drive. The one incompletion was deep right from Mariota on third and nine at the Dallas 29 with 13 oh one left in the third, and Washington kicked a 47-yard field goal. Three third-down targets, two caught, both converted. Three targets from each quarterback, three in each half. 72 air yards on the six throws, four yards after the catch.
Six targets tied him with Rachaad White and Dyami Brown for second on the team behind Terry McLaurin's nine. A week ago it was Diggs nine and McLaurin four.
Back in June the preview put Diggs on the watchlist — the 50-seventh receiver off the board at pick one 43, priced that way because in July he had no team to project him onto — and said the day he had a team with targets the price would be wrong. Week 1 was nine targets, four catches and a touchdown. Sunday was six targets, five catches and two touchdowns, and through two games he has three of Washington's five touchdowns. The target lead moved to McLaurin; the catch rate flipped from four of nine to five of six. Touchdowns are the least repeatable part of a receiver's line, and three in two games on 15 targets is a pace, not a role. The other thing to watch is who throws them: Daniels left with a left elbow injury and was ruled out, per Zachary Pereles at CBS Sports, and the second score came from Mariota. Washington is home to the Seahawks on Sunday the 20-seventh.
