Worthy caught both of his targets for 20 yards and one first down, a 17-yard catch on first and 10 at the Miami 38 in the second quarter, and was not targeted after halftime. Rashee Rice had 9 targets to his 2, after Worthy led the split 6 to 2 in Week 1 and 7 to 6 in Week 2, in a 24–10 win over the Dolphins.

14 to seven, Chiefs, eight 43 left in the half, first and 10 at the Miami 38. Patrick Mahomes threw deep right to Xavier Worthy, 16 yards in the air, and Worthy was pushed out at the Miami 21, 17 yards. +1.1 expected points added — expected points added is what a play was worth given down, distance and field position. The drive reached the Miami 12 and ended there, with Kenneth Walker stopped on fourth and one.
The line: two targets, two catches, 20 yards, one first down, +1.0 expected points on the targets. The other catch was first and 10 at the Kansas City nine with 48 seconds left in the half: short right, out of bounds at the 16, seven yards on the play, but a holding call on Rashee Rice was enforced behind the catch and it goes in his line as three. On the interception two minutes before the half, Worthy made the tackle on the return. Both targets came before halftime; none came after.
Two targets on the 23 Mahomes credited to a receiver. Rice had nine, Noah Gray three, and Worthy was one of four Chiefs with two.
Back in June the preview leaned watchlist on Worthy — a bounce-back candidate it could not vouch for after a season played in a shoulder harness — and named the September target split between him and Rice as the thing to watch. Week 1 the split was six to two in Worthy's favor. Week 2 it was seven to six, and the Week 2 episode said the late-game throws went elsewhere. Sunday it was nine to two for Rice, and the second half had nothing for Worthy at all. Three games: 15 targets, 10 catches, 63 yards, one touchdown. The split has turned over in three weeks; three games settle little, but the direction is one way. Kansas City is at the Raiders on Sunday the fourth.
