Bijan Robinson ran 19 times for 76 yards against the Buccaneers in a 16-0 loss at Tampa Bay. Expected points added (EPA), what a carry was worth given down, distance and field position, had him at -7.4, -0.39 a carry, and 6 of his 19 carries were successful, meaning they gained what the situation asked for. His one target fell incomplete.
The carry that defined his day came down 9-0 late in the second quarter. On third and 7 at the Tampa Bay 42 he ran 8 yards around left end, a first down until replay moved the spot back to the 36, a yard short. On fourth and 1 with 1:30 left, he went at left guard and was stopped for no gain: -2.9 EPA and 5.8 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. Short yardage beat him twice more. On the opening drive, third and 2 at the Tampa Bay 40, he gained 1, -1.4 EPA, and Michael Penix Jr. converted the fourth down; in the third quarter, third and 2 at the Tampa Bay 44, he lost 2, -2.1 EPA. His best run was 26 yards on the first snap of the second quarter.
It was his fourth straight game with negative EPA on the ground, and his lowest total of the season. Through Week 7 he had 131 carries for 704 yards, four touchdowns and +3.6 EPA, +0.03 a carry, and a 46.6% success rate; here it was 31.6%.
