Daniel Jones got nothing downfield against the Vikings: 13 of 22 for 108 yards, no touchdowns and an interception, sacked four times, in Indianapolis's 16-10 loss at Minnesota. Over 27 dropbacks, sacks and a scramble included, he was worth -7.51 expected points added (EPA), what a play is worth given down, distance and field position. His longest completion went 13 yards.

The throw that ended it came down 16-10 with 1:15 left. One snap after Josh Downs's 13-yard catch to the Indianapolis 44, first and 10, no huddle, he threw short right for Will Mallory, and Harrison Smith intercepted and returned it 15 yards to the Indianapolis 41: -4.4 EPA and 17.1 points of win probability, the estimate of each side's chance to win. In the third quarter, up 10-6, he was sacked on consecutive snaps for 10 and 13 yards, leaving third and 33 at his own 9. His legs helped: he converted a fourth and 1 and two third-and-1s on his own runs, +2.94 EPA.

It was a step down from a hard season. Through Week 6 he had completed 130 of 218 for 1,290 yards, 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, at -0.14 EPA per dropback over 239 dropbacks, sacked 15 times; here it was -0.28. Completion percentage over expected (CPOE), which compares completions with what each throw's difficulty predicts, was -10.1, against -3.4 through Week 6.
